Global One TV: A Blog for Mystics - by Eric Allen Bell

Inward Revolution Creates Outward Revolution

I mean this metaphorically of course, but if there is an Anti-Christ, his greatest deception was to lead people to believe he exists in the future when in fact he lives in the past. His name is Abraham and out of him came 3 violent religions that have brought out the worst in mankind for the past 6,000 years or so.

The new era, one that combines the greatest accumulated metaphysical wisdom (free of superstition) with the greatest sound scientific knowledge, is wanting to be born now, in our lifetimes. If this era is born we will flourish and evolve in ways yet unimaginable.

If the Abrahamic age - one that our ignorance and fear makes it hard to collectively let go of - continues, it's logical conclusion is the end of civilization through the self fulfilling prophecy of an Armageddon. We must evolve. We must evolve now.

Jesus is an archetype.  To perceive a historical Jesus to be the Messiah is to be gravely mislead.

The savior is not something outside yourself any more than it is something inside yourself, as this split in perception is a hallucination.  It's all the same thing and you are it.

Hi everyone! Perhaps out of topic, but here it goes!

I find this discussion very interesting. Im not here to take sides just to offer my view, which is that reality is beyond words. Jesus, for me, is a metaphor, as are all the religious and worldy ideas. However, Christ tends to be a kind and enlightened soul to follow, but thats where Im divided. I would very much like to have Jesus as my Guru, allthough I dont trust the bible. I have a lot more  to say on this matter, and so much more to learn so I leave it there.

Me, however, tends to sympathise more with Erics choice of metaphor, or I guess It isnt a metaphor more like a way to eliminate all metaphors to see that everything derives from the same source which is the true world beyond the illusion, the hallucination if so inclined.

Im trying to stop trying to search for IT. Ive been having sort of a depression without realising it, searching for meaning. I couldnt motivate myself to do anything so I just wrestled with my thoughts. Perhaps an overstatement, but I wanted to paint the mental picture.

Ive had some encounters with what I would call myself, and it came upon me when I wasnt looking for it (cliché). It was like clarity, everything made sense and I just knew I was on the right path. Well not path, when I was in the situation I felt enlightened and one with my surrounding. Ive come to believe, or more like logically come to the conclusion, after much thinking (Im 23 so perhaps not that much), own experiences and reading, that the idea of everything is interconnected and therefore everything is one in that perspective, which makes us all a part of everything. It's pretty vague but Im working from that core and its much better than my previous view that we're a cancer on earth, which I still believe we are, but thats another thought.:P

As you can see Im still a narrow-minded human trying to make sense of it all. I still have a pretty big ego, allthough its leaving space for a bigger conscioussness in every new encounter; interactions, thoughts, observations etc. Ive started to meditate and Im progressing

I think you can attach every singe sciences lense while trying to make sense of the world, I also think they all fail to realise the greatness and become focused on small parts that can be more or less fascinating but serve only as entertainment. But then, what is lifes purpose? I think it is to live, learn and create the perfect utopia!!!!!

:P Im reading Brave New World at the moment  and studying social science, what more can you expect..

Serious tone again, I believe we are in great need of this, what might be called, paradigm shift among the general population. If peace, love and understanding was my parents generations reaction to the science breakthroughs during the 60's then I wonder what todays consequenses might be?

But I really think we can need some more humble minds in the world, not that some people are worth more than others, more like some got lucky and broke free from the chains, escaped the dull prison we're brought up to keep on building. Lets atleast put some nice flowers in the dining hall, even if most people most likely believe they are plastic.

Criticism is more than welcome! Is that unpolite to say? Does it put you in a perdicament where you either have to criticize me and then be my slave, or make a statement by ignoring my request? Or am I just an ironic and cynical moron? I guess Im just provocative by nature and thats why the world exists.

Anyway, much Love, Erik.

EDIT: I failed to mention that I believe science holds a great key to our co-existance as humans because of its rational conduct. I also believe, however, that we need an enlightenment within the so called enlightened masses. Duality and polarisation is ''d'' evil. ^^

Erik -

The part is not separate from the Whole.  Glad to have you here.

Peace,

Eric

Hi, can I join in on the conversation?

I agree that Jesus probably is a metaphor which is way older than Christianity. Jesus has everything to do with the new human arising from the old human. The old human dies and gives rise to the new human, which is both another version of the old human, and something new altogether, the child. I believe these are alchemical metaphors and they speak of the psychological process of reaching enlightenment.

Old "Christian" sects have often despised the veneration of the cross, they knew that the suffering was not some historical event that actually took place. It's the suffering of every human, the suffering that Buddha spoke of.

And try as we might to make a better world using rational thoughts, that is surely not the right way. We need to make the transition, we need to realize our true origin and if we do, I believe we can make this a better place.

Well, Keenashe, we just can't seem to get rid of you!!  Ha Ha.  Eric has said before that he's happy you are part of these discussions because you keep them lively and add fuel to the fire.

How many "metaphors" have been lost in the long history of humankind's creation of gods?  If a metaphor works for you, like Jesus for Keenashe, go with it.  But, I truly feel it's important to realize it's a metaphor; like a psychological exercise to help you to achieve a goal for yourself (I dislike psychological exercises immensely).  It still comes down to being rational and questioning "What is real?"

I think that is what it all comes down to. Being logical and rational, allthough many dont see it that way.

Perhaps its Pink Floyds fault.

Well I don't think being rational is going to bring us one step closer to enlightenment. Instead, it's a major handicap, because the mind gets trickier the stronger it is. Mind, rationality has brought us to the world we're living in today. we got to get beyond that.
Tricks are fun though.

I don't feel "rationality" has brought the world to the position it is in at present.  It is more the irrationality of religion, the irrationality of bankers, the irrationality of consumers who think they can pay off their credit card bills no matter how large a debt they run up......

A "creator-god" is not rational to me.  An existence beyond the physical realm of the body and matter where all that exists is _________________(fill in the blank; Consciousness, Spirit, Love, God) has a rational-ness to it that I can accept because there is so much to the universe that our minds are unable to comprehend.  "I am pure spirit" is much more rational to me than saying "God created me the way I am."  Evolution "shaped" me into the form I am so I can experience _____________________(fill in the blank).  It's just these darn imperfect bodies and minds have their own agenda; "I wanna get laid."  "God, I need a drink."  "I have to go to the bathroom, NOW!!"

"Jesus saves" is totally irrational to me.  It places constraints of the entire universe.  Jesus as a metaphor is rational to me; if you use his "supposed" teachings to guide your actions, cool.  Emotions are not rational, but we are emotional beings, so we're bound to be irrational most of the time; I think that's a given.  But when we sit down and meditate on what is real; the true basis of our consciousness; how the economy is affecting my Being; that is when rationality needs to be utilized to guide us to Truth.

Irrationality is the Anti-Christ.

I do understand what you are saying, Keenashe.  My emotions get in the way when the word "Christ" is used because of my associations with it and more so because of the "majority" of people who call themselves "Christians".  As a member of the Unity Church of Christianity during my college days, Christ Consciousness was a term used and I liked that term.  I understand your usage of the word "Christ".

I had bronze book ends of statues of Buddha in my bedroom at my parents' house.  My father called them the Anti-Christ and said he really shouldn't allow those statues in his house.  When faced with such ignorance and irrationality from a "good Catholic", you can see where the word "Christian" leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

What would you consider spirituality? Is it a sense of self, or perhaps its a sense of our surroundings? I have no opinion in this, I would just like to hear your answers of what you consider to be spirituality.Continue

Your Own Personal Jesus 74 Replies

Anything a person says about the true intentions of Jesus are pure speculation. He never wrote anything down. NONE of us have any idea what he actually said, what he meant. You can make Jesus into absolutely ANYTHING you want to believe him to be. But that does not make it true. More people have died in his name than any other.…Continue

Inside of All Things There Is a Stillness 2 Replies

Up until fairly recently, I went through most of my life thinking about what I thought the world owed me and what I could get from it. Then a transformation began, one which is very much still playing out - evolving, and I experienced something of a shift in perspective.Without giving it much thought, my natural inclination has been to consider what I owe the world and what I can give it - as it has given me everything and always does.…Continue

Wishful Thinking: A Cheap Alternative to Inquiry 37 Replies

The newer popular alternatives to religion, that come in the form of new age spirituality such as "The Secret" are just as loony as the promise of heaven for the believer, and a lake of hellfire for the nonbeliever. This ever so intoxicating form of delusion is simply more escapism - a new belief system to impose upon reality, in order to avoid true, honest and courageous self inquiry. In this form of wishful thinking the egoic mind is "meant" to have whatever it visualizes and this gets…Continue

The Head, the Heart and What it Means to See 16 Replies

If a book guides you, my feeling is that such a book would not be as reliable a guide as love. Best to follow the heart, even foolishly at times, if one is to be a real human being. My heart tells me that the world is in a desperate state of crisis right now. I feel driven to stand up and do my part to try to lead where I can, and to reduce suffering where I can, and to never lose sight of the reality that it's not really me who is doing any of it. The human experience is but a fraction of who…Continue
