It is the responsibility of all Americans for holding our representatives accountable and we have failed. As for the statement you have copied in bold print, where is the stereotype about all Christians? I'm not seeing it?
Permalink Reply by Lee Tamplain on October 23, 2011 at 5:03am So leave out the qualifier "Abrahamic Age" and just say, "If religious fundamentalism keeps trying to run the lives of entire nations and strip people of individuality, freedom of expression, freedom of thought; the logical conclusion is Armageddon, where everyone will be fighting each other because from each group's perspective, "The Others" are Infidels." Gee, it sounds like Armageddon is in full throttle in the Present Age. So when everyone has been killed by all the True Believers, who will be in heaven??? uuhhhhhh, no one.....
Heaven and Hell are totally states of mind and/or religious beliefs. The battle of Lucifer and Jesus for control over you was just your own growing experiences of trying to decide what is right or wrong for you. Hell, you may have had a really bad chemical imbalance in your brain that was making you flip out to think Lucifer (a mythological figure) was trying to take control of you. These beings and deities are all excuses for not accepting responsibility for one's own actions or not realizing you are schizophrenic and need some heavy psychotics. (I'm not really calling you schizophrenic; it's an analogy because schizophrenics seemed to have great affinity to Satan for some reason.) My sister told me stories of shaking her children and screaming, "Satan! Leave this child!" when they were misbehaving......guess what.....they stopped. I would too if some crazy woman grabbed me, shook me and screamed that out to me...I'd run like hell! Blaming "Satan" for a child's temper tantrum is just poor parenting. And she's not even schizophrenic!!
I've quit drinking!!! Hooray!!! I took responsibility for my actions and banned the devil's hold over me!!!! I'm very health-conscious and drinking everyday doesn't fit into my overall view of eating healthily; devil be damned. And I've gotten over the pain of caring for my aged parents; abandoning them and my mother's quick death after I did so. Life goes on.
I still say it isn't that the government has become so corrupt that has destroyed the economy; I'm from Louisiana; the government there has always been corrupt. It's that fact that the species of capitalism fed to citizens of the grand ole US of A strives to make people spend and spend and spend their money to keep the economy going. Well, that's just what people did; they totally spent all the money they had and money they didn't have and just kept on spending then couldn't pay their loans back to the banks; the banks imploded and the economy got sucked into a black hole of debt. Granted, policy makers gave bankers huge freedom to show their incredible greediness and reveal the ineffectiveness of blinders to the future in warding off total economic collapse.
It's like I always (cynically) say, as long as Americans have gasoline for their cars (no matter the price) and electricity for their air-conditioners and refrigerators, they hardly give a damn that the world around them is going to hell. The discomfort of unemployment; its inconvenience and the inconvenience of not having money is what is really forcing Americans to open their eyes. Everyone needs to be made to feel uncomfortable for change to happen.
But that doesn't address spiritual change. So to hell with the economy and the corrupt officials; I'm trying to be comfortable with my place in the universe because I've had blinders on and the path I was looking down was truly taking me straight to hell. My blinders are off. I'm responsible for myself. I only want to know that I AM LIGHT....that's enough for me for the present and hopefully for all eternity (anyway, time doesn't exist.....)

"True Believers" blew up the twin towers; "True Believers" say, "Only those who have accepted Jesus as their personal savior will go to heaven"; "True Believers" want their nations to be run according to their beliefs with no consideration of other people's personal beliefs.
Morals are very subjective. They vary greatly from person to person even in the same religion.
I agree that television imagery has greatly influenced the way people create images in their minds. Lucifer is said to be very beautiful.
I'm reading A.A. Attanasio's Tetrad Novels. It's science fiction. His depiction of life forms in the universe; the conservation of energy at the time of death; the soul......it's very wonderful to me and is parallel to my own rationalizations of Spirit and Light. Just goes to show me, "If you have thought something, someone else has thought the same thing."
A shift in consciousness is truly needed in the world. I truly hope the efforts by individuals who are shifting their own consciousness will have a cumulative effect to change the mentality of the whole world, but I'm not holding my breath.
And Eric, one of my sisters in speaking to me about Jesus (trying to save my soul) said "Who do you think Jesus WAS?" To which I replied, "If you really believe in Jesus, how can you speak of him in the past tense? If you accept him as your savior, he has to be real and alive to you right here and now. He can't be in the past." Perhaps this is why people speak about what Jesus meant in the way they do. They have to totally brainwash themselves to believe what they believe and thereby KNOW what Jesus meant because they believe it to their very core.

You really think that it is the true believers who are killing? We've all seen many false flag attacks and manipulations. Why is it so hard to see that our Bibles are being used as a diversion? You are falling for it hook line and sinker. Who are we really dealing with? some would call it evil or the devil, but I don't like to name it that way. I simply call it people who only care about themselves. They would use our Bible against us for shit sure, I can't believe you intellectual minds have not looked at that angle.

What would you consider spirituality? Is it a sense of self, or perhaps its a sense of our surroundings? I have no opinion in this, I would just like to hear your answers of what you consider to be spirituality.Continue

Anything a person says about the true intentions of Jesus are pure speculation. He never wrote anything down. NONE of us have any idea what he actually said, what he meant. You can make Jesus into absolutely ANYTHING you want to believe him to be. But that does not make it true. More people have died in his name than any other.…Continue

Up until fairly recently, I went through most of my life thinking about what I thought the world owed me and what I could get from it. Then a transformation began, one which is very much still playing out - evolving, and I experienced something of a shift in perspective.Without giving it much thought, my natural inclination has been to consider what I owe the world and what I can give it - as it has given me everything and always does.…Continue

The newer popular alternatives to religion, that come in the form of new age spirituality such as "The Secret" are just as loony as the promise of heaven for the believer, and a lake of hellfire for the nonbeliever. This ever so intoxicating form of delusion is simply more escapism - a new belief system to impose upon reality, in order to avoid true, honest and courageous self inquiry. In this form of wishful thinking the egoic mind is "meant" to have whatever it visualizes and this gets…Continue

If a book guides you, my feeling is that such a book would not be as reliable a guide as love. Best to follow the heart, even foolishly at times, if one is to be a real human being. My heart tells me that the world is in a desperate state of crisis right now. I feel driven to stand up and do my part to try to lead where I can, and to reduce suffering where I can, and to never lose sight of the reality that it's not really me who is doing any of it. The human experience is but a fraction of who…Continue

The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden in the lotus. Sure. But it's also hidden in the BMW website and in the faces of all the starving children. The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden at WalMart and in the heart of your worst enemy. The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden in every star and in every subatomic particle. The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden in plain sight. The Jewel of Enlightenment is You.…Continue
