The words of the Gayatri Mantra were selected and carefully arranged by the Rishis to express meaning and infuse righteous wisdom through continuous recitation. Chanting of the Gayatri Mantra is commonly practiced three times a day, known as the three sandhyas - Dawn, Mid-day and Dusk.
Devotees traditionally chant the Gayatri Mantra 108 times using prayer beads called a Mala or Japa beads. The syllables of the mantra are thought to balance the 7 chakras of the body, properly aligning one's energy or life force.
