Why Did I Create Global One
TV?
I launched Global One TV in March of this year, having very little understanding of how to create a social network and very little background in blogging. But my heart was guiding me in a new direction, away from the past where I had written and directed and produced motion pictures. That seemed to be a picture in the rear view mirror that was shrinking with each growing day. Something new was about to happen. I felt the call.
During my years in Hollywood I did primarily two things - either starve or make a lot of money writing scripts for other people that never became movies. Along the way I was fortunate enough to get a few of my movies made, but I cannot say that it was satisfying the way I had hoped it would be.
Hollywood works exactly the way that religion does. What really gets the attention of audiences are big productions with a heroic protagonist battling the worst antagonist imaginable against impossible odds set to a backdrop of incredible special effects. In the end good will always triumph over evil. This is what we would generally call a blockbuster. It's kind of exactly like the Bible.
Think about it - all of the major religions fit that description.
Then there are the independent films. These are typically less obvious, offbeat by nature, make you think a little more and posses a somewhat more authentic quality. This would not describe Catholicism but it would certainly describe the world of alternative spirituality, what some might call mysticism.
I have always been an independent filmmaker in my heart but a mainstream Hollywood gun for hire by profession. So, perhaps without meaning to, I have become a student of both forms - always hoping to synchronize the best of both - to develop something authentic and mass distribute it effectively without compromising its value. In the world of Hollywood, I failed at this.
And so I created Global One TV with the belief that the world is now ready to be exposed to authentic spiritual knowledge without the trappings of superstitions or ridiculous tall tales to insult their intelligence. And in doing so, I realize that there is still a majority out there who prefers the parting of the Red Sea over the quieting of the mind, but their numbers are falling off fast as we enter a New Age.
Enlightenment is the word used to describe a state of consciousness wherein one is continuously aware of their eternal nature. Sometimes a mind is only enlightened for a moment, but those moments can add up while one cultivates a deeper sense of reality. I believe that mass media is an important tool in making this happen.
This is the role of Global One TV - to harness the growing power of mass media to bring authentic spiritual insight to as many people possible.
