What You Seek is What is Seeking - God is Closer to You than Your Self
The newer popular alternatives to religion, that come in the form of new age spirituality such as "The Secret" are just as loony as the promise of heaven for the believer, and a lake of hellfire for the nonbeliever. This ever so intoxicating form of…Continue

The recognition that essentially you are the world, that there is no subject/object split, that there is no separation between you and "all that is" - this realization, even at the conceptual level, changes consciousness. The part is not separate…Continue

BY ERIC ALLEN BELL: If there is a so-called "Anti-Christ", his greatest deception was to lead people to believe he exists in the future. In fact he lives in the past. And his name is Father…Continue

Organized religion has contributed greatly to an overall global atmosphere of fear - the fear of others, the fear of a great lake of hell fire that awaits the nonbeliever. It holds back our collective consciousness and it holds down our collective…Continue

If a book guides you, my feeling is that such a book would not be as reliable a guide as love. Best to follow the heart, even foolishly at times, if one is to be a real human being. My heart tells me that the world is in a desperate state of crisis…Continue

Over a long enough period of time, the survival rate for your body is zero. Contained within the body is the brain and one of the functions of the brain is the ego. The ego is the self concept of the brain-body organism and it does not like what was just said one bit.
And there are different states of consciousness than just ego. The ego is like a dog you bring with you on a journey. Untrained, it will run off, bite others and come back to bite you. But trained and disciplined it knows its place. It can sense things, warn you of danger, protect you. As the saying goes, "Ego is an excellent servant and a horrible master". …Continue

One's own existence seems self-evident....
And yet there really isn't any proof -
not objective proof anyway -
that you exist.

If you consider yourself to be on any kind of spiritual path, you very likely have had a tendency to be too hard on yourself. You try not to think negative thoughts, to avoid judging others, to avoid "sin". One definition of the word "sin" is "separation from God". We want to avoid our dark side and become more of "how we are supposed to be". This way of thinking occurs probably not as the result of religion, but religion has sprouted as the result of…Continue

When it comes to the subject of Enlightenment I am no authority. I do not possess special knowledge nor do I profess to speak to you now from some elevated state. On all matters Divine there is but one authority and that is The Great Mystery.
Enlightenment is often said to be a state of conscious communion with Divine Source.
According to some spiritual traditions this state is something of a finish line. One's existence is seen to be a cycle of birth, death and rebirth as one's soul…Continue

In order to answer the question, "What happens when I die?" I feel it is important to take a look at something a bit less speculative and that is the question of what happens when we live.
There is no way to understand death if you don't know what life is. What happens between the moment you take your first breath and the moment you draw your very last?
Who is it that is looking out through your eyes?
Is it not the same quality of awareness that existed right before you read these words? Is that quality of awareness not the same quality that existed yesterday and the day before?
And that awareness, the pure state of awareness was there before you could form words or even knew your name. It is independent of personal history, of labels, of…

To the best of our knowledge, Jesus the Christ did not write a book, nor was he promoting a set of tapes, DVDs or CDs. Jesus did not give motivational weekend seminars. Jesus didn't give interviews. Jesus was never on Oprah.
So since he left no writing behind, we are left with 4 accounts of people who not only said that they knew him and were there, but also seemed to have an incredible memory when it came to memorizing long sermons.
And of course there were others who wrote gospels (Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Judas, Gospel of Mary Magdalene and others), but these were not seen as being valid by the Church.

It was 1991, the year I dyed my hair white and then black and then back to its original color.
And I was broke. And I had one friend left who was responsible and had a job and that was Tom. And Tom had a one bedroom apartment in Hollywood. And I lived on the floor. There was already a musician living on his couch, a struggling musician. And I was a struggling writer. But there was a difference and the difference was that the struggling musician was struggling to get an album recorded, to become signed by a record label and to become world famous. I didn't know what I was struggling for, only that I was struggling. It seemed impossible to understand how it had come to this.
And I was drifting, penniless and…Continue
