God is Closer to You than Your Self
Creation and Destruction are the same thing, but called by different names. When they are called by the same name, that name is Shiva.
God is not only the things we like, but also that which we often find it impossible to accept. You cannot change the world from what it is, but you can change your state of consciousness. And when you do, everything…

Over a long enough period of time, the survival rate for your body is zero. Contained within the body is the brain and one of the functions of the brain is the ego. The ego is the self concept of the brain-body organism and it does not like what was just said one bit.
And there are different states of consciousness than just ego. The ego is like a dog you bring with you on a journey. Untrained, it will run off, bite others and come back to bite you. But trained and disciplined it knows its place. It can sense things, warn you of danger, protect you. As the saying goes, "Ego is an excellent servant and a horrible master". …Continue

In order to answer the question, "What happens when I die?" I feel it is important to take a look at something a bit less speculative and that is the question of what happens when we live.
There is no way to understand death if you don't know what life is. What happens between the moment you take your first breath and the moment you draw your very last?
Who is it that is looking out through your eyes?
Is it not the same quality of awareness that existed right before you read these words? Is that quality of awareness not the same quality that existed yesterday and the day before?
And that awareness, the pure state of awareness was there before you could form words or even knew your name. It is independent…

If you consider yourself to be on any kind of spiritual path, you very likely have had a tendency to be too hard on yourself. You try not to think negative thoughts, to avoid judging others, to avoid "sin". One definition of the word "sin" is "separation from God". We want to avoid our dark side and become more of "how we are supposed to be". This way of thinking occurs probably not as the result of religion, but rather religion has sprouted as the result…Continue

When it comes to the subject of Enlightenment I am no authority. I do not possess special knowledge nor do I profess to speak to you now from some elevated state. On all matters Divine there is but one authority and that is The Great Mystery.
Enlightenment is often said to be a state of conscious communion with Divine Source.
According to some spiritual traditions this state is something of a finish line. One's existence is seen to be a cycle of birth, death and rebirth as one's soul perfects their karma and eventually reaches a state of Nirvana or pure…Continue

One's own existence seems self-evident....
And yet there really isn't any proof -
not objective proof anyway -
that you exist.

With each passing day, as I look inward and as I take in what is going on with the world outside, my heart opens. And the more it opens the more I understand why I have kept it shut for so long. The more my heart opens, the more I understand why the world has closed its heart.
I find it harder and harder to criticize the world from a place of anger or disappointment. The screwed up world and the screwed up self are not only reflections of each other, they are one in the same. I am the suffering and the beauty and everything in between - not as some new philosophy but as a felt experience, moment by…Continue

From the explanation above, it is easily understood that, truly, there are as many paths as there are people. Practically though, there are a few hundreds of yogas, or practices which are categorized into the four main paths. These paths are:
The path of wisdom and knowledge. The jnani uses his will and power of discrimination to cut through the veil of ignorance and attain the truth.
For the jnani, the goal is absolute Truth.
Jnana Yoga appeals to the philosophical and intellectual temperament.
The path of love and devotion. The bhakta uses the combined energies of…Continue

"Meditation on Being"
By Eric Allen Bell
Being is what you are. Nothing you do will make you more or less than that.
Whether you are a criminal or a saint, your state of Being is unchanged and eternal.
Only the awareness changes.
Nothing you do in the world will change your state of Being.
Whether you are a good spouse, devoutly religious, a high achiever or a dope fiend - there is nothing to be done to make you better or worse at the level of Being.
Building temples does not bring about salvation when…
